Selmaville students recently had the opportunity to explore science in an exciting, hands-on way thanks to the Centralia Cultural Society’s Arts in Education program. Through their support, the Traveling Science Center made a stop at our school, bringing interactive exhibits focused on Illinois science, wildlife, and environmental awareness.
Students explored a variety of displays highlighting topics such as parasites, wildlife habitats, and the impact of human activity on the environment, including our carbon footprint. The exhibits encouraged curiosity and critical thinking while giving students the chance to engage directly with scientific concepts in a fun and memorable way.
Although the Traveling Science Center program was designed for students in grades 4–8, the organizers were kind enough to open the experience to our kindergarten through third grade classes as well. Our younger students were thrilled to have a chance to step aboard the science bus and experience the wonders of hands-on learning.
Selmaville School extends a heartfelt thank you to the Centralia Cultural Society and their Arts in Education program for making this educational opportunity possible. It was an unforgettable day of discovery that helped inspire a love of science across all grade levels.
